During the entire month of November, the Minnesota Zoo will be sharing stories of the many rescued and rehabilitated animals that we care for. All of our animals receive amazing care from zoo staff, volunteers and community members. All of this work is made possible because of YOUR amazing support – thank you! Check back daily as we feature a new story from around the Zoo.

If you have made a visit to the Zoo recently, you may have noticed a few new faces along the Medtronic Minnesota Trail. A rescued fox, raccoon and river otter have made a new home at the Zoo and are able to serve as ambassadors for the wild counterparts – educating our guests about their species and natural habitats. All three of these animals were brought to the Zoo by the Minnesota DNR, each with their own health issue from broken bones to extreme obesity. Thanks to the excellent care and expertise of Minnesota Zoo zookeepers, veterinary staff and an excellent partnership with Blue Pearl veterinary clinic, all three animals are recovering nicely and doing very well.

Did you know? There are more than 11 species of native Minnesota animals along the Medtronic Minnesota Trail, not even including birds! Come explore and connect with some amazing species. Don’t forget to share your adventures using #dayattheMNZoo!
