Muse: Tropical Plants

In the midst of Minnesota winter, spend some time focusing on the tropics! After finding inspiration from the Tropics Trail’s orchids, other tropical plants, and animals they’re connected to, learn and practice basic drawing techniques to depict these plants on paper. Transfer your drawings onto a wood panel to finish a mixed media piece with India ink and pastel crayons.
Class fee: $60 for members, $65 for non-members (Zoo admission is included)

Muse: (Baby) Animal Patterns

Date/time: Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 1-4 p.m.
Art Medium: stamping block, ink, & pastels
Celebrate opening weekend of Farm Babies at the Zoo by exploring how and why patterns on fur, scales, and skin can differ between baby animals and their adult counterparts. Hear stories about some of the animals born at the Minnesota Zoo and visit a ‘Zooborn’ to gain inspiration for your class creation. Using custom stencils or your own designs, carve an image highlighting an animal’s patterns and textures to make a mixed media print with ink and pastel crayons.
Class fee: $60 for members, $65 for non-members (Zoo admission is included)
