Art for Animals: Muse Programs
From painting to papermaking, fiber arts to flower pressing, jewelry to journaling, and storytelling to sun printing… there are endless opportunities to explore the artistic world and the wildlife that inspires it. Projects prioritize sustainability whenever possible. All materials provided unless otherwise specified. No experience necessary; all skill levels welcome.
Muse: Pollinators
Date/Time: Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 9:30 a.m.-Noon
Media: acrylic paint
Connect with nature through painting, with a focus on Minnesota-native pollinators! Observe pollinators and their habitats around the Zoo and create your own en plein air acrylic painting to highlight pollinators and their importance. Discuss ways you can help and go home with a seed packet specifically tailored to support Minnesota pollinators and other wildlife. All skill levels welcome.
Class fee: $55 for members, $65 for non-members (Zoo admission is included)
Materials fee: $5 per participant

Muse: Red Pandas
Date/Time: Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 1-3:30 p.m.
Media: clay
Celebrate International Red Panda Day & the Zoo’s newest habitat by making a clay plate with a Red Panda Forest theme. Using basic hand-building techniques and earthenware clay, make a 6-8” snack plate and decorate with custom animal stencils, black and white colorants, and your own designs. Find inspiration from a visit to the Red Panda Forest and learn all about its charismatic new inhabitants.
Plates will be fired offsite and should be ready to be picked up at the Zoo 3-4 weeks after the class. You will be notified when they are ready for pickup. Shipping options also available at an additional cost.

Materials & finishing fee: $15 per participant
