Photography for Wildlife

Photography can be a powerful force for wildlife. With the help of a Zoo naturalist and a local photographer, connect photography and conservation while enjoying exclusive access to photograph Zoo animals without the crowds. Each class focuses on a different trail, with trail-specific photography tips and highlights from the animals’ personal and conservation stories.

Treetop Trail - Adapting to Nature Through the Lens

The phrase, “Have camera, will travel” is music to many ears but there’s no reason to travel further than the Minnesota Zoo to photograph wildlife! With unique after-hours access via the world-renowned Treetop Trail, point your lens at subjects near and far to hone your photography skills. Learn about some of the local wildlife you might see from the Trail and what to know about your camera and location to inform and improve your photography skills. Maximize the gear you have and identify where and how your kit could grow to capture the nature photos you aim to take.

Approximately 1/3 of this program will be in the classroom, 2/3 on the trail. Due to the unique nature of this trail, this program will be rescheduled in rainy or stormy conditions.
