Backstage Pass: Tropical Birds

Fly on over to get up close with a stunning variety of tropics birds without leaving Minnesota!

Before the Zoo opens, walk the Tropics Trail and watch as the animals wake up for the day. From howling gibbons and crooning hornbills to grunting lemurs and honking flamingos, open your ears to the chorus of songs welcoming you to a morning in the tropics. Get a bird’s eye view from our special aviary treehouse and be entranced as the tropical birds come to feed for the morning. This is a perfect time to capture a beautiful photo or simply sit and watch quietly. Learn about the birds, their behaviors, and the care needed by asking all the questions you may have.

This experience is ideal for photographers, families, and birders of all sorts!

• The Minnesota Zoo prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of all the animals in our care. Each animal is given the choice to participate in these experiences, and it is always up to them to decide if and how much they want to participate. We may also need to cancel a program due to animal health concerns. If we need to cancel, you will be invited to attend another experience or receive a refund of your registration.
• For the wellbeing of the guests, guests must follow the directions of the animal care staff.
• The Zoo is not a nut-free environment as nuts are a regular part of our animal diets and may be used during animal demonstrations and programs as positive reinforcement.
