School and Group Expectations

Thank you for planning a visit to the Minnesota Zoo!

We look forward to welcoming you to this natural wonder with thousands of animals from around the world and hundreds of acres of scenic beauty. To make this experience enjoyable for you, our other guests, and the animals that call the Zoo home, we have the following code of conduct in place.
• The Minnesota Zoo is a drug, smoke and vape free facility.
• Be conscience of your noise level. Shouting, tapping on glass, and other loud noises disturbs animals and other guests.
• Don’t hesitate to ask questions of our staff and volunteers. Please show our team members courtesy and respect. Foul, hurtful, and/or discriminatory language is not welcomed at the Zoo.
• Remain on marked pathways and be respectful of plants and wildlife throughout the Zoo.
• Any individual exhibiting or threatening violence against others will be escorted off property.
• Feeding animals is prohibited throughout the Zoo except in Zoo approved areas.
• Keep food and personal items out of the water and habitats – these can harm the animals.
• For your safety and the safety of our animals, stay behind all guard rails, follow any rules posted on Zoo signs, and refrain from climbing on barrier walls, in flower beds, or onto roofs.
• Guests are welcome to take photos and video for personal use (be sure to tag @mnzoo if posting on social).
• Please walk on pathways. There are several playgrounds and open spaces throughout the Zoo where visitors can run and play. (open seasonally)
• Shirts and shoes are required, except in the Splash Pad.
• For safety purposes, students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade must always have an adult leader with student groups. Everyone attending a field trip (students, teachers, and chaperones) are encouraged to be active participants while at the Zoo.
• Plan and communicate meeting areas and times with your group before breaking off to explore the Zoo.
• Remember that you are representing your school during your visit.

Items prohibited at the Minnesota Zoo:
• Laser pointers
• Drones
• Balloons
• Bicycles, skateboards, skates, rollerblades, sleds, scooters*
• Pets are not allowed in the Zoo even if left in vehicles*
• Full-face costume masks and costumes deemed by Zoo management that create any safety hazard or concern.
