Veterinary Internship Opportunity at the Minnesota Zoo
Looking for an opportunity to become a member of a veterinarian team, grow and contribute your skills and expertise, and help connect people, animals, and the natural world to save wildlife? The Minnesota Zoo Foundation is seeking is seeking a Veterinary Intern to join our Minnesota Zoological Garden’s Animal Health team. This veterinary internship is a one-year, full-time commitment from July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2022
This position provides veterinarian information and/or consultation to the Biological Programs and Conservation Programs staff under the supervision of the veterinarian staff and Director of Animal Health. The intern will specify services/conditions under which services are to be performed to maximize safety of staff and collection animals. The incumbent is expected to educate staff on zoonotic disease prevention. This position will collaborate and share information, with regulatory agencies and other zoological park/aquarium personnel, external consultants, researchers, and students. The Minnesota Zoo’s campus covers 485-acres and is home to about 5,000 animals.
Qualified applicants must have their Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an institution accredited or recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association and be able to obtain a valid Minnesota state veterinary license within 30 days of hire date. Compensation for the position includes a salary of $31,200/annualized with a comprehensive benefits package.
