Nature thrives when we grow together. Buzz & Bloom, a collaboration between Bachman’s, the Minnesota Zoo and the Minnesota Zoo Foundation, is entering year two. Come explore the Zoo’s vibrant Buzz & Bloom Garden that’s designed to help you learn about Minnesota’s native pollinators. Then bring the buzz to your backyard when you create your own pollinator garden at home using plants from Bachman’s Buzz & Bloom Collection. Each plant supports local wildlife and strengthens our landscapes as we all work together to build a brighter future for bees, butterflies, and beyond.
Buzz & Bloom Garden at the Minnesota Zoo
Visit the Buzz & Bloom Garden, located outside of the Hanifl Nature Center, is now growing. Featuring hardy, native plants carefully chosen to support Minnesota landscapes and wildlife, the Buzz & Bloom Garden will grow stronger and wilder with time. As it grows, it will continue to help guests of all ages learn about and connect with some of our planet’s tiniest animals. This June, celebrate Pollinator Month when you visit the Zoo every weekend for special activities. When you visit the garden on June 6, you can take home ready-to-plant seeds from Bachman’s Buzz & Bloom collection!
Create Your Own Buzz & Bloom Garden
Grow a garden that gives back! This summer, be the envy of your neighbors (both human and insect alike) by planting your own Buzz & Bloom Garden. Buzz over to Bachman's and be a friend to your backyard bees and butterflies when you buy plants from the new Buzz & Bloom Collection. Thoughtfully curated by Bachman’s and the Minnesota Zoo, these hardy plants are designed to thrive in Minnesota landscapes while supporting backyard wildlife. Round up your purchase at checkout to support the Minnesota Zoo Foundation and the Zoo's wildlife-saving efforts or make a gift to help support threatened and endangered wildlife, like the Dakota skipper and Poweshiek skipperling butterflies.
Buzz & Bloom is a collaboration between Bachman’s, the Minnesota Zoo, and the Minnesota Zoo Foundation that celebrates pollinator conservation through a four-year garden project at the Zoo and a retail plant collection. It also includes a “round-up” fundraising campaign at Bachman’s supporting wildlife-saving efforts.
Located outside the Hanifl Nature Center, this multi-year pollinator garden is designed by horticulture experts from both Bachman’s and the Zoo. The garden will grow each year through 2028, showcasing hardy and native plants that support at-risk pollinators like the Rusty Patched Bumble Bee—seen on Zoo grounds in recent years.
The collection features hardy and native pollinator-friendly plants that thrive in Minnesota gardens. These are the same types of plants used in the Zoo’s Buzz & Bloom Garden and are curated to attract and support bees, butterflies, and other essential wildlife.
You can purchase the Buzz & Bloom Collection at all Bachman’s Floral, Gift & Garden Center locations across the Twin Cities. Look for the specially curated display during the growing season.
Bachman’s will be hosting a Round Up for a Cause campaign during the months of May and June at all six Bachman’s Floral, Gift & Garden Center locations, proceeds from the Buzz & Bloom Collection will benefit the Minnesota Zoo Foundation and support the Zoo’s wildlife-saving efforts.
Bachman’s will give away 20,000 free seed packets at all six store locations and at the Zoo to help guests start pollinator gardens at home. Special events will also be held in June (both at the Zoo and at Bachman’s) to celebrate the partnership, including expert Q&As and hands-on activities.
Pollinators like bees and butterflies help plants reproduce, support food production, and maintain healthy ecosystems. Many native species are at risk, making it more important than ever to create pollinator-friendly habitats.
While the collection launched during Pollinator Month, the Buzz & Bloom Garden at the Zoo is a four-year initiative, 2026 is year two, and the conservation message will continue to grow for years to come. The Buzz & Bloom Collection will be available at Bachman’s during the growing season throughout the four-year partnership.
