Your Summer Day at the Minnesota Zoo
Welcome to the world of wildlife! Your day will be filled with the wonder of nature when you visit one of the largest zoos in North America . On sunny summer days (or in refreshing rain) you could see nearly 5,000 animals of all types and stripes. With so many fish in the sea and birds in the trees, we recommend multiple visits to fit in all the fun.
Essential Experiences
Don’t miss what makes summer extra special at the Minnesota Zoo!
Wings Credit Union World of Birds Show
As the birds flap, we bet you’ll clap! Join us for an avian adventure at the Wings Credit Union World of Birds Show this summer. Showing three times daily, May 24 – Labor Day, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the Amphitheater.
Birds will fly, swoop, and circle overhead – but’s that not all. You’ll marvel at the many natural behaviors of birds: singing, running, hopping, perching, problem-solving, and more.
Want to see a toucan? You can! Thanks to support from Wings Credit Union, the show is included with your Zoo admission.
Gain a New Point of View
Every day, all around the Zoo, you can encounter animals and the Zookeepers who know them well! Join us for Animal Encounters and Keeper Chats:

Prehistoric Place to Play
Come walk among the animatronic dinosaurs and explore the natural play structures. This immersive experience takes you back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.
Dino Hideout is presented by Xcel Energy and supported by TPT. Find the dinos outdoors on the Upper Plaza. Open daily and included with your Zoo admission.
Play Areas and Splash Pad
Let’s play, climb, swing, and splash! Woodland Adventure, Hanifl Wild Woods, and the Splash Pad are open daily (weather dependent). Nearby restrooms are in Central Plaza and Hanifl Nature Center.
Conservation Carousel
Take a twirl on the Conservation Carousel, running daily 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Ride on your choice of 56 animals plus two accessible chariots. Rides are $4 for guests 42 inches and taller; free for guests under 42 inches, with paying adults.
Rain in the Forecast?
Don’t let a little rain dampen a summer day! If the pool’s closed and the baseball game is rained out, the Zoo is the perfect place to explore. Stay dry while you see thousands of animals inside.
• Visit the indoor trails and habitats: Discovery Bay, Snow Monkeys, 3M Penguins of the African Coast, Tropics Trail and Minnesota Trail.
• Catch the Wings & Things! Show in the Target Learning Center daily at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Presented by Wings Credit Union.
• Take your seat for Royal Credit Union Sea Lion Discovery. Showing twice daily at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Get tickets—they’re included with your admission
