It’s a sleepover in the longest mountain range in the world, the Andes Mountains, home of 30,000 species of plants, 1000 species of amphibians, 600 species of mammals, 1700 species of birds, 600 species of reptiles and 400 species of fish! In this special overnight program, you and your family will experience some of the most charismatic South American animals, up-close and personal, as part of a small group. While you sleep in tents in the Llama Trek exhibit, our summer residents will be bedded down for the night behind-the-scenes. Get an exclusive sneak peek at where they sleep, play fun native games, meet a zookeeper, and get hands-on with our llamas as you groom and lead them through Llama Valley before the Zoo opens. Have a South American adventure without leaving Minnesota! The Zoo will provide tents and foam sleeping mats to all participants, along with guidance in setting up the tents (you’re also welcome to bring your own, if you prefer.)
The Llama Trek Overnights start at 6:00 p.m. and end at 9 a.m. the following morning. After the conclusion of the program all participants are invited to enjoy the rest of the day at the Minnesota Zoo. We need a minimum of 15 people for the overnight to take place.
