Feed one of the largest stingrays in the United States in one of the Zoo’s most thrilling Backstage Pass programs!
Join an aquarist at the Minnesota Zoo for a rare opportunity to actually feed our 7-foot stingrays yourself, from above the Shark Reef tank in Discovery Bay. You’ll go behind-the-scenes as aquarists feed our fish, sharks, sea turtles, and rays, to help the keepers feed our fish and give the stingrays their meal by hand! Not only will you finally know what a sting ray feels like, you’ll also get an up close look at our rescued sea turtles and our large Sand Tiger sharks.
During this fascinating backstage experience you’ll meet our amazing aquarist staff and learn all about their daily routine caring for our rays (unique cousins of the sharks) and many other marine species, as well as their behavior, training, and conservation. You’ll leave with a special gift from one of our own sharks. This program is perfect for anyone interested in marine biology, any animal lovers, or anyone interested in a thrilling new experience. A great way to see the Zoo like you’ve never seen it before!
Note: This program involves climbing a set of stairs. Also, to feed the rays, lying on your stomach is best, but optional. If you are unable to do so, please contact us so we can adjust the experience to fit your needs.
