2020 Information

Online registration opens on:
February 5 at 10 am: Members of the Minnesota Zoo
February 12 at 10 am: General Public

Friendly Tip! Registration will work best on a computer; some functionality may not appear on mobile devices. Only use a supported, updated browser to register as unsupported browsers like Internet Explorer won’t work.

Current members must use their existing web login email to receive the membership discount. Please log in before adding anything to your cart. Registration only takes place online and full payment is due immediately.

In order to receive the member rate, your Zoo membership must be current (not lapsed) before you register. Registration requires signing legal waivers for each camper. Members may only register and sign for campers covered by their membership.

Member registration opens at 10 am on February 5, 2020. An online waiting room will be available starting at 9:30 am that day. If you sign on before 10 am, once registration opens at 10 am, your spot in line will be randomly generated. If you sign on after 10 am, registration will be on a first-come first-served basis. Due to the high volume of users, please expect to experience a long wait in our waiting room.

While registering online, if you encounter an urgent problem, please email [email protected] or call 952.431.9200 and we can try to talk you through the process, but we are unable to take registrations over the phone. Calls are returned in the order received so please do leave a message.

Many camps sell out quickly. Please be prepared with a couple of camps or date options. A waitlist may be available for camps that are full. If a spot becomes available, the scheduler will contact the first person on the list and continue until the spot is filled.

If you have any questions, please email [email protected] or call 952-431-9390.

Accessibility
General information on accessibility at the Minnesota Zoo is available at mnzoo.org/accessibility. To request a specific disability accommodation, such as ASL interpretation, please contact us a minimum of two weeks prior to your camp. Phone: 952.431.9364 (voice), 952.431.9390 (voice), or 1.800.627.3529 (TTY). Email: [email protected] or [email protected].

MNZoo4All
Download our free MNZoo4All: A Sensory Guide from the App Store or Google Play if you have a camper who might benefit from social guides, visual schedules, sensory-friendly maps, and more.

Confirmations
You will receive an email confirmation within 24 hours of registration. If you do not receive a confirmation, check your spam folder periodically to see if it was accidentally sent there, or email [email protected] or call 952.431.9390 for assistance.

Scholarships
As funds allow, need-based scholarships are available. Complete an online application at mnzoo.org/scholarships.

Cancellation & Refund Policy
Cancellations made more than two weeks prior to the program will receive a refund of 75% of the program fee. No refunds will be issued less than two weeks prior to the program. A transfer to a similar program may be possible if requested at least one week prior to the program. No transfers are allowed within one week of the program start date. Refunds will not be issued for no-shows for any camp program regardless of cause. To cancel or request a transfer, please contact
[email protected] or call 952.431.9390.

Drop-Off & Pick-up Locations
Your confirmation contains important and time-saving information about what to bring and where to drop off and pick up your child from camp. Please read this information carefully as there are multiple drop off locations at the Zoo for the Zoo Camp program. This information will also be included as a link in the email confirmation you receive.

Lunch Supervision
Lunch supervision is only provided for week-long campers registered for both a morning and an afternoon camp of the same week, and for all-day camps. A $10 per week fee will automatically be charged to those who register for two half-day camps in the same week. This fee is already included in all-day camp prices. Campers must provide their own nut-free bag lunch.

Before and After Care Supervision
Available for week-long camps at the Main Entrance. This is available to register for during your online camp registration.
Before Care Supervision for Week-long Camps – 8:00 a.m. to camp start time is $35 per week
After Care Supervision for Week-long Camps – camp end time to 6:00 p.m. is $45 per week

NOTE: Traffic and construction are part of Minnesota summers; please plan accordingly. For campers not picked up within 15 minutes of camp ending, the weekly applicable supervision fee will be assessed. Late pick-ups from After Care will result in additional fees of $5 for every 5 minutes past 6 pm.

Zoo Camp T-shirts
All week-long Zoo Camp participants receive one t-shirt free with their registration. T-shirt sizes must be specified during registration. Extra t-shirts may be pre-ordered at a cost of $12 per shirt. No exchanges are available.

NOTE: For the safety of all campers, Zoo Camp t-shirts MUST be worn each day of camp (for week-long campers). T-shirts serve as camper name tags and enable instructors to keep campers together while walking throughout the Zoo. Shirts will be distributed on the first day of camp. On subsequent days, campers who arrive without their shirt will be given one to wear for the day, and may be charged the extra t-shirt fee.

Snacks and Food Allergies
Due to the prevalence of food allergies and the challenge this creates to provide a healthy option for every child, Zoo Camp does not provide snacks for campers. However, campers are encouraged to bring a nut-free snack each day for snack time. Please avoid peanut butter, granola bars or baked goods with peanuts, trail mix, Nutella, or any Nutella-based items. “Soy nut” butter and sunflower seed butter are great alternatives to peanut butter.

We cannot guarantee a nut-free environment at the Zoo as guests often bring their own food items, and nuts are a regular part of our animal diets. Nuts may also be used during animal demonstrations in the classrooms as positive reinforcement. Please disclose all participant food allergies during registration. To discuss concerns or potential accommodations, please contact [email protected] or call 952.431.9390.

Medications Needed During Summer Zoo Camp
The Medication Permission Form MUST be completed if your child needs assistance taking any medications during their time at Zoo Camp. The form can be found on the Zoo Camp Information webpage. No medications will be given to children without a complete form.
