Camp Schedule

Creature Beats!macphail logo
Partnership with the MacPhail Center for Music
1:00–4:00 p.m.
Create songs about animals by applying musical concepts of songwriting such as song form, lyric writing, melody, harmony, and more! Make album art, explore animal- and music-related literature, and take home a pre-recorded Sing Play Learn with MacPhail® CD with some of our favorite songs from the week.
Fee: $200 ($175 for Zoo members)

NEW! Disguises & Surprises

For animals, a good disguise or sudden surprise comes in handy every day. What’s the secret behind animal “tricks” like playing dead, rolling into a ball, and showing off? Discover how animals are designed to be masters of deception.

Down on the Farm
8:00 a.m.–noon or 1:00–5:00 p.m.
It’s time to get down on the farm! We’ll spend time feeding and grooming animals, make dairy products, and as our sheep say—have a “bla-a-a-ast.”

Ocean Odyssey
9:00 a.m.–noon or 1:00–4:00 p.m.
Dive into an underwater world teeming with sea turtles, sharks, sea dragons, and monk seals! Each day, explore a different ocean habitat including coral reefs, tide pools, and estuaries.

Would you like to work at the Zoo? Explore and role-play jobs at the Zoo and see the grown-ups in action. If you imagine yourself taking care of bears, training seals, feeding sharks, or studying tigers, then this camp is for you.

Partnership with Children’s Theatre Company
9:00 a.m.–noon
Join Children’s Theatre Company and the Minnesota Zoo to tackle a new Zoo mystery each day. Combine your super sleuth skills with theatre games and teamwork to uncover clues, meet new animals, and learn the value of conservation.
Fee: $250 (no member discounts apply)

Zoo Explorers

Tromp through the tropics, journey through the grasslands, and “swim” through the oceans to search out the answers to many curious animal questions by thinking and observing like real zoologists. As this is an outdoor-based camp, shelter will be available as needed.

Zoo Monsters

To be the best, you need to do more than catch ‘em all—you need to understand your monsters! Explore the “monsters” at the Zoo that inspired the creatures in the world of pocket monsters. Learn where they come from and what special powers help them survive.
