AuSM Registration

The Minnesota Zoo is excited to partner with the Autism Society of Minnesota (AuSM) to offer summer camp opportunities for youth with autism.

All camp sessions will be co-taught by a Minnesota Zoo Naturalist and AuSM Educators. Participants must be group ready: demonstrate self-care skills without assistance; follow adult direction; show readiness for large group participation, including the ability to remain with the group at all times; and follow safety rules independently.

Camp Schedule

Zoo Explorers (ages 8-11)
June 18–22
8:30-11:30 a.m.
Tromp through the tropics, journey through the grasslands, and “swim” through the oceans to search out the answers to many curious animal questions by thinking and observing like real zoologists. As this is an outdoor-based camp, shelter will be available as needed.
Fee: $325 (no member discounts apply)

Photo Safari (ages 12 to 15)
July 16–20
1:30-4:30 p.m.

Let’s explore! Pack your field bag with your journal and camera (all provided) as we explore the countries that make up each Zoo trail. A homemade photo journal will be our week-long project. Our animals are ready for their close-up—are you?
Fee: $325 (no member discounts apply)

Zoo Crew (ages 16 to 19)
Aug 6–10
8:30-11:30 a.m.
Explore a day in the life of a zookeeper, a zoo vet, a marine mammal trainer, and an aquarist to see if the Zoo is the place for you. See for yourself what we have in store as you make animal enrichment items, talk to Zoo professionals, visit behind the scenes, and get up close to animals. Come join the crew!
Fee: $325 (no member discounts apply)
