Minnesota Zoo and Second Harvest Heartland Team Up to Fight Hunger
Zoo Offers Admission Discount with Food Donation

Apple Valley, MN – December 22, 2009: – Through December 31, guests visiting the Minnesota Zoo will receive a discount on admission with a donation of a non-perishable food item supporting Second Harvest Heartland, Minnesota's largest hunger relief organization.

For each donation, Zoo guests will receive a $2 discount on adult admission and $1 discount on child and senior admission, December 1 - 31, 2009 (only one discount per person; not valid with other offers or promotions).

The most needed food items include:

• Meats, Fish and Protein – canned tuna, ham or chicken, beef stew, chili, peanut butter, canned/dried beans
• Fruits and Vegetables - 100% fruit juice, canned fruits and vegetables, instant potatoes, fruit preserves
• Complete Meals - pasta & sauce, boxed meals, hearty soups
• Grains - cereal, rice
• Hygiene products - shampoo, deodorant, soap, diapers, toilet paper, feminine hygiene, toothpaste
• Cleaning Supplies - laundry detergent, paper towels, kitchen and bathroom cleaners

No glass containers, perishable items or home canned foods please!
