Funds raised support anti-rhino poaching efforts
Tuesday, September 22, 2015
6-8 p.m.

Apple Valley, MN – September 4, 2015: Poachers are killing an average of three rhinos per day to feed the surging black market demand for rhino horn. Join Minnesota Zoo Conservation Biologist Jeff Muntifering during AZUL’s annual “Creature Feature” evening event on Tuesday, September 22 at Bauhaus Brew Labs in Northeast Minneapolis to learn about his work to help save this critically endangered species. Proceeds will help raise funds for rhino protection and support wildlife initiatives at the Zoo.

Muntifering, a Minnesota native based in Namibia, lives and works out of a remote field camp known as “World’s End.” Located along the southwestern coast of Africa, Namibia supports over a third of the world’s black rhinos including the last truly wild population that survives in the northern reaches of the Namib Desert. Since 2009, the Minnesota Zoo has partnered with Namibian conservation organization Save the Rhino Trust, and together, they are supporting one of the world’s most successful programs to help protect this unique wild population while preventing another rhino subspecies extinction.

Creature Feature will also include craft beer, food trucks, and the opportunity to purchase a limited-edition poster designed by a local artist. This event is free for AZUL members and $10 for non-AZUL members.
