Apple Valley, MINN – April 14, 2014  –Join the Twin Cities’ top chefs as they prepare delicious and sustainable ocean and freshwater dishes at the Minnesota Zoo’s 7th  annual Fish Bites event on Thursday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m.

Fish Bites is designed to raise greater awareness about the importance of buying sustainable seafood – seafood that is either wild caught or farm-raised that cannot only sustain current populations, but thrive over the long term while not damaging the environment. Fish Bites is just one way the Minnesota Zoo raises awareness about buying seafood from sustainable sources.

Local restaurants participating in this year’s Fish Bites event include Butcher & The Boar, Lancer Catering, Luci Ancora, Lucia’s Restaurant and Wine Bar, Masu Sushi & Robata, Saffron, Sea Change, Smack Shack, and Oceanaire Seafood Room. The delectable dishes will be paired with a variety of sustainable wines, courtesy of Lakeville Liquors. The event, emceed by 96.3 KTWIN’s midday personality Brian (BT) Turner, also includes live music by Café Melange and a shark and stingray feeding.

Tickets for Fish Bites are $50 in advance ($55 at the door, if available), and participants must be 21 years of age or older. Tickets can be purchased at mnzoo.org.  Funds raised will support the Minnesota Zoo’s conservation efforts.

The Minnesota Zoo is located in Apple Valley, just minutes south of Mall of America. Open year round, the Zoo is one of the State’s premier cultural attractions serving 1.3 million visitors annually.
