Reminders Before You Apply:

  • A student MUST be receiving academic credit from, or fulfilling an academic requirement for, an accredited educational institution to be eligible for a Minnesota Zoo internship. In most instances, student interns are upper division majors or minors in the areas of biological science, horticulture, pre-veterinary medicine, education, environmental studies, conservation biology or related disciplines.
  • Specific requirements differ by department and program area, and can be seen on each specific internship program’s page.
  • Internships are unpaid.
  • Most summer internships are 10 to 14 weeks in length and 30 to 40 hours per week. Fall, winter, or spring internship schedules and time commitments vary widely.
  • All of our interns receive a number of Zoo-specific benefits during the duration of their internship, such as free Zoo admission for themselves and their families (when they visit the Zoo together) and discounts at our gift shop and food vendors.
