Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you limiting the number of members that can attend?

In order for this to be a safe and fun event for everyone, it is necessary to limit the number of people to the quantity that we can handle in the time period allowed.

Can I be put on a waiting list?

Because we have other public HowlZooWeen options available, we will not have a waiting list for the Members event. This also allows members the opportunity to make other plans for October 31 without waiting for possible cancellations.

Who can I bring?

You can bring the same people that are covered under your membership. If you have a “Plus” membership, you can bring one additional guest.

Can I bring extra guests and pay for them that night?

This is a Members Only event, so only current Minnesota Zoo members may attend.

What kind of treats are there?

There are a wide variety of food and non-food treat items, and not all the food items are candy. Some food items may contain peanuts or be manufactured by a company who handles peanuts.

Use this guide to help animals like tapirs, tigers and orangutans by supporting the companies that use sustainable palm oil when making their Halloween treats.

Is it scary?

No, it is a family-friendly event focusing on children up to age 12. Full face masks are not permitted.

What parts of the Zoo will be open?

Discovery Bay, Tropics Trail and Minnesota Trail Lodge will all be open. Penguins will not be on exhibit.

Will there be food available for purchase?

Penguin Café and Wild Java are the two food service areas that will be open.

Is the event inside?

Yes, all treat stations are located indoors.

What is different between this event and the daytime HowlZooWeen events?

The Members Only HowlZooWeen event has many more treat stations than the daytime events. Since it takes place on Halloween night, we want to give the children a full trick-or-treating experience.
