Fly on over to get up close and personal with the stunning variety of birds along the Minnesota Zoo’s Tropics Trail!

Before the Zoo opens, you’ll walk the Tropics Trail with a naturalist and Zookeepers, watching the trail wake up for the day. You’ll get to jump in and participate in the keepers’ morning routine, feeding our birds in the aviary and the ducks in Gibbon Lagoon! During this experience, you’ll be surrounded on all sides by tropical birds during their morning feed—the perfect time to capture a beautiful photo or simply sit quietly and observe. You’ll also see lots of other animals, including our mammals and reptiles, as you walk the trail – without the normal crowds!

You’ll learn about the behaviors and care of our tropical birds, including threatened or endangered species; get to ask the Zoo staff all of your questions; and learn to identify several species. This interactive educational program is ideal for photographers, families, and birders of all kinds.
