Alaskan EdVenture: Sea Kayaking Wildlife Expedition

Are you interested in wildlife and conservation? Do you love traveling and exploring new places? Would you like to get some hands-on experience in field research techniques, and explore ecological issues in one of the wildest places in the country?

Join a group of fellow high school students, a Zoo professional, and guides from Wilderness Inquiry for a sea kayaking adventure in Alaska! With a small group, and an itinerary personalized for the Minnesota Zoo and focused on wildlife, we’ll visit Anchorage, Whittier, and the Prince William Sound. You’ll learn and master sea kayaking techniques and safety, and you’ll see animals in the wild, like sea otters, seals, and whales.  You’ll travel by train through the mountains, learn to fish for salmon, paddle your sea kayak through fjords and past glaciers, and visit seabird rookeries. Whether you’re a prospective field biologist or just want an amazing summer adventure, this trip is for you.
