Career Day- School Event

Grades 9-12

Students will gain insight and knowledge animal careers in hands on activities at a variety of stations throughout the Zoo. These activities build the skills many animal care employers look for in a qualified candidate. Students are given a Zoo Career Portfolio booklet upon arrival to use as a guide and for the day and for future career planning. The day is open format and is geared to high schools and homeschool students in grades 9th-12th.

Career Day – The Public Side of Zookeeping: Training and Enrichment

Grades 7-10

How do zookeepers keep animals healthy and content? Through hands-on activities and conversations with experts, discover the zookeeper’s role in animal training and enrichment and why it’s so important. Learn about ambassador animals, practice training techniques, and talk to zookeepers about their education and career paths. Registrations will be accepted until noon on the Friday prior to the event. Lunch is not provided. You may bring your own lunch or eat in our “Call of the Wild Café”, lunch prices range up to $15.00.

Fees: $40 per participant, $35 per participant for members
