Flora & Fauna on the Tropics Trail

Escape the Minnesota winter and join us in the Tropics! The Tropics Trail isn’t home only to monkeys, reptiles, birds, fish, and other creatures – it also houses beautiful orchids and other tropical plants.  We’ll focus on flora and fauna alike in this class, as we learn about the tricks and successful practice of macro photography, as well as other techniques that will serve you well on the Tropics Trail (like shooting through glass or shifting light conditions.) Bring any lenses you have for your camera, and a tripod if you have one – the photography instructor will also have some materials for people to try. This class will combine classroom time with time on the fully indoor trail, where we’ll give our brightly colored orchids, bromeliads, or palms, and our tropical birds, tortoises, or lemurs, their close-up! We’ll also bring out some Madagascar hissing cockroaches in the classroom to get to practice macro photography with these insects, if you’re interested. With plenty of opportunities to ask questions and practice your new ideas, you’ll head home with skills for getting that perfect shot.
